For more than four decades, Richard Arrowood has remained true to his roots. A native of Sonoma County, he is the Winemaster and Director of Winemaking at Arrowood Vineyards & Winery, where he uses Sonoma County grapes exclusively. “The Sonoma Valley has more growing climates than any other wine-growing region in California,” he says. Arrowood makes full use of this diversity to create complexity in his wines, especially Cabernet Sauvignon. Another mark of Arrowood wines is the use of sustainable and organically grown grapes. “It seems to me that the more you allow Mother Nature to make the grapes, the better they will taste,” he says.
